Project brief

Taking a design-led, multidisciplinary,

human-centered approach we looked at how food nutrition labeling might evolve to accommodate new technology and

socio-cultural needs.

Problem

People have clear nutritional philosophies that they would like to stick to and execute on successfully. However, fast-paced lives and disrupted routines especially with business travelers create barriers that make it hard to stick to their nutritional and

health goals.

My Role

My main contributions to the project were planning, and conducting design research as well as guiding the team through the analysis and synthesis for our research. I also created generative prototypes to explore concepts and test potential service experiences.

Results

We conducted research to uncover new opportunities, synthesized product and service concepts for FDA’s nutrition facts label 2.0  by building scalable ideas that can move to the development phase with companies and

regulatory agencies.

Key personal learnings

  • Contextual Prototyping: Simulating context where the experience will take place and using the context to role play the experience. Building a context in which your ideas will function as a way to describe and simulate behaviors.

  • Sketching conversations and live diagraming for team alignment: I learned that I naturally gravitated towards becoming a mediator in teams. Listening actively to our conversations and sketching along the way to play it back to teammates creating alignment within ourselves.

How might new technology, service, and information experiences help business travelers adopt a healthy lifestyle while on the move?

Prototyping the business

Final Shareout

We presented our insights as well as our concept to our client. We prototyped the context where this NutraPath can potentially take place in order to help our client understand the experience as well as to be able to share our ideas in a more concrete and immersive way.
